On October 20, 2020, it has been ten years since we officially started working in the INTERKULTURALNI PL Association for the development of an open and multicultural society. Years have passed, but our basic mission has always been our guiding force, which we believe we are carrying out with increasing efficiency and effectiveness.
It was an extremely difficult year not only for us personally, but also for many Polish non-governmental organizations, which, even without a pandemic, faced numerous problems and challenges. This difficult time confronted us with situations that required a new, fresh, sometimes even innovative look at what we had been doing so far.
We are glad that, despite these difficulties, we were able to continue ongoing projects and started the new ones. Firstly, in partnership with the Mikolaj Rej Foundation for Polish Culture and Language Support we managed to organize a competition for students from Krakow’s schools entitled “Multicultural city in the 21st century”, which gave the possibility of creative expression to children burdened with remote learning and resulted in collection of around 150 works. The second project was the exhibition of young Belarusian art “Before / After / 2020.Belarus”, which ended in the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology at the turn of February and March 2021.
Despite the extremely difficult pandemic situation, we are continuing the MiCREATE project implemented under the Horizon 2020 program, aimed at a comprehensive examination of the situation of children with migration background and their relations with local children.
Starting from January 2021, the Association became a partner in another research project carried out under the Horizon 2020 program, run by the University of Bologna under the name “New ABC”. At the moment, conducting mainly academic activities, employees of the Association carry out numerous additional activities for the benefit of migrants and along with migrants, such as Małopolska Friendly to Foreigners program, financed by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund. They also co-create the Information Point for Foreigners in Krakow, where they are responsible for the legal advice department.
